FinLab helps candidates prepare for investment banking and private equity interviews with practice questions, lessons, progress tracking, an estimated Interview Readiness Score, and an optional AI tutor. Practice content in FinLab is original and AI-authored; FinLab is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any bank, fund, or credential body, and nothing in FinLab is investment advice.
If you create an account, we collect your name (optional), email address, and a unique account identifier. Sign-in is provided through Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email and password. Email accounts are managed by Supabase; passwords are hashed and are never visible to us in plain text. An account is required to use FinLab so your progress is saved to you.
You can add your resume — during onboarding or later in Profile — for personalized coaching. It is analyzed once to produce a short summary of your education, experience, and skills. Contact details (email, phone, address, links) are removed before anything is stored, and the full resume text is never kept. The summary is stored with your synced progress, is used only to personalize your study plan, coaching, and mock interviews, and is deleted when you remove it in Profile → Interview Profile or delete your account. Removal propagates to all of your signed-in devices.
Your practice results, answer history, streaks, goals, path progress, and readiness scores are stored on your device and synced to your account (hosted by Supabase) so your progress follows you across devices. Synced data is transmitted over encrypted connections and is readable only by your account. "Reset all data" in Profile clears it, and deleting your account deletes it from our systems.
When you practice while signed in, your entry appears on FinLab's weekly leaderboard: your first name (taken from your Profile name, which you can edit at any time), your chosen avatar character, and your points are visible to other signed-in FinLab users for that week. No email, photo, resume content, or study details are ever shown. Your leaderboard entry is deleted with your account.
Mock interviews can optionally use your microphone so you can answer out loud. Your speech is transcribed using Apple's speech recognition; the audio itself never reaches our servers and is never stored by us — only the final text transcript is sent to the AI tutor, exactly like a typed message. The interviewer's voice is generated on your device. Microphone access is optional: you can always type your answers instead, and you can revoke access in iOS Settings.
If you take the free diagnostic on our website and enter your email to receive your results, we store that email and your diagnostic results, and we email you your score and study plan, plus a note when the app launches. Reply "unsubscribe" to any such email to opt out. Website diagnostic emails are not linked to your app account.
When you use the AI tutor ("Tutor" chat, "Tutor me on this," lesson deep-dives, or the daily plan note), the content needed to answer — your message, the practice question involved, and a summary of your study stats (accuracy by topic, readiness target, days until your interview) — is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API and returns the response. We do not store your tutoring messages after the response is delivered.
To enforce daily AI usage limits fairly, our server stores a daily counter keyed to your subscription transaction identifier (for Pro users) or your device's identifier-for-vendor (for free users), plus coarse per-IP daily counters used solely to prevent abuse. These identifiers do not contain your name or email.
To understand which lessons and questions work and where the app breaks, FinLab records product events such as screens opened, questions answered (question id, whether you were right, how long it took), lessons started and completed, tutor requests (counts, timing, and error codes only), paywall views, purchases, and app errors. Each event carries your device's identifier-for-vendor, an app session id, your account id once you are signed in, app version, iOS version, device model, locale, and time zone. Our AI server additionally records, per tutor request, the token counts and response time of the AI call. These events never include your name, email, resume text, or the content of your tutor conversations, and they are never shared with advertisers or data brokers. They are stored in our Supabase database, readable only by us, and deleted with your account. You can turn analytics off at any time in Profile → “Share usage analytics”; the app then stops recording and discards anything not yet sent.
FinLab Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple. We receive subscription status (an Apple-signed transaction confirming an active subscription), never your payment details.
We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising. We do not send marketing email to app account holders; the only promotional message we ever send is the launch/results email you explicitly request through the website diagnostic, which you can opt out of by replying "unsubscribe."

Lessons may link to YouTube for study videos. Those links open outside the app, and Google's terms and privacy policy apply there.
You can access, correct, or delete your personal information. Email contact@ejbtechnologies.com from your account email and we will act within 30 days, including full account deletion.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you use FinLab from outside the US, your information is processed in the US.
FinLab is designed for students and professionals preparing for finance interviews and is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it. For users under 18, a parent or guardian should review this policy.
We will post any material changes here with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will also be highlighted in the app.
